Description

A newly refurnished private palace in the heart of Rome, with 9 bedrooms and perfect for a private roman getaway. Where will you be located? The square takes its name from one of the most powerful families of medieval Rome, who had a house with a tower since the 14th century. The indisputable charm of this square is to enter a small village, where the Margani building complex is gathered, consisting of a building around a truncated tower between the fourteenth and sixteenth centuries and where time seems to have stopped. Two goodies? The Margana Tower is portrayed in a watercolor by Roesler Franz, while, in the middle of the square, the night of 1480 marked a grim fact of crime: Pietro Margani fell assassinated by Prospero Santacroce, in a medieval feud between these two families that characterized the whole century. In the square there is also Palazzo Maccarani Odescalchi, where, in the 1600s, Monsignor Tommaso Odescalchi gathered a group of abandoned girls, today instead the seat of the Permanent Representation of Italy to the United Nations Organizations. Engraved in stone, the lion still bites the gazelle. Deep wells where sacred waters gave birth to the Chosen People. The Emperor’s deep maroon that envelops the bricks. Wells that have long since collapsed, shrouded in darkness, places where you find yourself in front of endless arcades that used to belong to Rome during the days of the Empire. Perpetually closed doors, in monastic sacredness. The myth of the empire that decorates the new principles of the Renaissance with its marbles. The Grand Palace, which lives between the upside-down Rome of the Botteghe Oscure and the marbles of the nobles of the Ghetto, whose palace looks like blocks of marble, resting on the sand.
